Installation process of D-type rubber fenders
1. Application scope
This operation is applicable to the installation steps of protective rubber fenders installed on the side outer plate of the ship:
1. The two ends of the rubber fender material should have end plates and be beveled. The rubber fender should gradually transition to natural disappearance, and the height-to-width ratio of the beveled end should be greater than 3:1. The degree of design should be fixed, and if there is a backing plate, the backing plate at the end should be locally widened and reinforced.
2. The endpoints of the rubber fender should fall on the internal structural ribs of the hull, such as ribs or rubber fender ribs.
3. The seams of the hull outer plate, the backing of the fender material, and the butt joints of the rubber fender itself should be staggered by at least 10cm.
4. With the active development of the pre-installation project, fenders are often pre-installed in sections. Therefore, the rubber fender should leave a section of 1-1.2m outside the large joint of the section on the shipyard. Once the tightness acceptance of the large joint of that section is completed, the installation of the fender for that section can proceed.
5. The transverse and longitudinal reinforcing ribs inside the fender generally should not be welded to the hull outer plate, and a gap of -10mm should be left for the rubber fender.
